Vanderbilt makes NCAA Tournament, plays Wichita State
Vanderbilt will play Wichita State at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday in an NCAA Tournament first-round game in Dayton.
The Commodores are slotted as a No. 11 seed in the First Four – which includes eight teams in four games, and the winners moving on to the primary 64-team bracket. The winner of the Vanderbilt-Wichita State game will face No. 6 seed Arizona (25-8) on Thursday in Providence, R.I.
Vanderbilt (19-13) will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012, when it drew an automatic bid as the SEC Tournament champion. This time the Commodores squeezed in as an at-large selection.
It will be the first NCAA Tournament appearance for all current Vanderbilt players and the 14th appearance in the Big Dance in program history. Last season, the Commodores advanced to the third round of the National Invitation Tournament.
